I was searching the interwebs the other day to find out more about the Chuck Powell/Morning Ritual fiasco and found this on Yahoo! Answers. This is courtesy of azirishman70, its freakin’ awesome:
“Today, We Former Edge 103.9 listeners salute…….THAT GUY! You know the guy which just this week fired his top rated morning show jock to bring in a nationally syndicated radio show that has been twice cancelled by other stations in the valley!
Instead of keeping one of the funniest host in valley radio history on your station, that guy decided to abandon the “independent radio” label that he work so hard three years ago to perfect, and sell out to the man and bring in a “shock jock” for a few bucks saved on the company payroll, and to get what he thinks will be a few extra points in the Arbitron ratings for morning drive time.
Right now, that guy is sitting in his cushy office, in his plush leather chair counting the immediate savings to the “bottom line”. But what that guy doesn’t realize that his bone-headed decision could cost his station even more money that he is saving in lost ratings, lost sponsorship, and lost respect in the station that broke away from the corporate ownership trend and vowed to listen to its listeners here in the valley. In fact, that guy tried this once before and found out what a HUGE mistake it was!
In fact, that guy feels that the station will gain more brain-dead male chauvinistic listeners in the 18 to 25 age group then he will lose in all the other age groups!
At this time, that guy is setting back thumbing his nose at all the loyal “Morning Ritual” listeners saying that. “I’d rather be that guy than keeps his listeners happy and say ‘screw the big bucks that running Adam Corolla will bring the station dude’”.
Well First off, this letter is not about, “I’d rather be that guy then keeps his listeners happy and say ‘screw the big bucks that running Adam Corolla will bring the station dude’”; it’s about THAT GUY!
Second, Adam Corolla is not that damn funny! In fact, he is a chauvinistic *** who most entertaining thing he has done in the past 5 years is embarrass himself by riding a unicycle on “Dancing with the Stars”!!! There is a reason his show has been cancelled twice in the valley……IT SUCKS!!!!
So if you think the core of what had been loyal Edge 103.9 listeners will continue to listen to your station at ANY TIME…you are sadly mistaken!!!
So if this letter offends you at any way, there is a good reason why…….YOU’RE THAT GUY!!!”

Well I have actually had a good response to The Best Waffle Recipe Ever. I have to remind you all that this recipe makes the best waffles ever! Now I will tell you how to improve on the recipe (not like there is much you could do). Here it is…go to your local Good Will, Deseret Industries, or whatever that sells second hand stuff and look for an old waffle maker. I mean old, like 60’s-70’s old. I had been looking for one for some time and wasn’t able to find one, that is until my Mother-in-Law, the best bargain shopper there is, came across one and bought it for me. Here it is in all its old glory.
It looks a little on the rough side but I tell you it works like a charm. All I had to do is find a single nut that went on a screw to hold the housing onto the frame. The credit for that one also comes from my Mother-in-Law. I will say she is the best a guy could have!!
Needless to say it makes the waffles even more crispy and tasty than you could even imagine. Go find one now, you won’t regret it!
I say this because my favorite radio show host, Chuck Powell, has been let go from his position from The Edge 103.9 along with his cohorts: Collin Boyd, Drew “The Thrillride” Hutchinson, and Cori James. Chuck hosted the the Morning Ritual for 4 and a half years. I don’t really like listening to radio all that much because I can’t stand to listen to the same songs being played over and over during the day but after living here for only a month or so a friend told me to listen to this morning show, so I gave it a chance and that is when I started listening to Chuck. That was almost 4 years ago.
He is probably the most creative person I have ever heard on the radio. He was always coming up with new games to play such as Robert Smith or Roberts Smith, The Billboard Game (a board game on radio), 1 vs. Collin, Uncle Vinnies Vault of Useless Movie Trivia (this one is also a great thanks to Vince Morotta), and I think a big fan favorite TFL (Tabloid Fantasy League, yes he was the first one all others are just imitators) I could keep going but I won’t. He was also coming up with great bits to be part of Last Character Standing (GO LISTEN NOW!), which was a throwback to the old radio plays of the old days. Last Character Standing is at its roots a battle between 2 characters that Chuck came up with and the victor moved on to be champion until another character defeated them. He was amazing at coming up with new and fresh characters on a weekly basis. I will say that if i missed LCS on Wednesday’s my day was shot.
The one big thing about Chuck is that he could always make you laugh or smile, always. And on rare occasions he could make you cry. Or even sometimes make you laugh ’til you cry. He always made you feel good about getting through your day. I don’t know the man but I feel that listening to him daily that I know him somewhat and I know that Phoenix will miss him. I know I already do.
Chuck, thanks for all the great times. Hope to hear you soon!
